About Bazidpur



Bazidpur village was founded by Shah Mahmood to honor Bayazid Bastami - a Persian Sufi from north-central Iran who lived around 850AD. Mahmood Shah is buried in the mosque of Bazidpur, followed by his descendants, including Diwan Noor Ali and Zahoor Ali (a.k.a. Fazihat Shah Warsi)

Bazidpur is about 85 miles South-West of Patna, capital of Bihar state in India. For international passenger landing in Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata there are direct flights to Patna. There are many high speed railway trains from these metropolitan cities to Patna as well. From Patna there many options to travel to Bazidpur. Though there are many local many buses and trains its recommended to rent a car. Its usually around 50-80 USD for the whole day.

West of the village are the hills and forests of Rajgir, with hot springs flowing in its foothills. In the vicinity are the ruins of the Nalanda University, built during the time of Gautama Buddha. About 10 miles from Rajgir is the town of Bihar Sharif, where the mausoleum of Makhdoom Sharfuddin Yahya Maneri is located.

During earlier days renowned families of the region pursued not only religious education but also sought worldly knowledge to achieve economic stability. This focus on education ensured that society around them paid attention to religious teachings and catered to contemporary needs.

Soil of this region is very fertile which is suitable for wheat, rice, corn, pulses and many other cash crops. Farming, Dairy, Poultry, etc. is the main source of income. There is a water tower which supplies water to the village. Residents get electricity for most parts of the day.
